My Story: Cultivating Connections and Driving Success
Growing up immersed in the worlds of 4-H and FFA, I developed a deep passion for animals and leadership from a young age. My experiences included holding numerous leadership roles, being a proud member of the National 4-H Congress, and receiving the prestigious Gold Star Award. My love for animals earned me the nickname "Ellie May," reminiscent of Ellie Mae Clampett, as my high school friends never knew what kind of animals I would bring home next. This passion was instilled in me by my grandfather, with whom I shared memorable projects and entrepreneurial endeavors.
I pursued my education at Texas A&M University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business and Development. During this time, I taught horsemanship clinics across Texas for Texas AgriLife Extension, further fueling my desire to educate others. I then continued my academic journey at Tarleton State University, where I served as a teaching assistant and managed the Equine Assisted Therapy Program while earning my Master's Degree in Agricultural Education.
After completing my graduate studies, I embraced the role of County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development. In this position, I focused on sharing the importance of agriculture and sustainability, creating enriching experiences that empowered individuals and communities. I had the privilege of mentoring students as they moved from high school to college, helping them achieve their goals and realize their potential.
My career then expanded into business management and sales, where I gained valuable insights into CRM software, payroll practices, and the fundamentals of driving growth. This experience honed my skills in connecting people to business outcomes and deepened my understanding of client relationships.
In 2021, I began working as a 1099 contractor for Alfa Force Equine as part of my preparation to transition into the animal health industry. During my time there, I introduced myself to the owner and proposed creating a website to enhance the brand's presence. Over the next four years, I served as a sales professional, developing a comprehensive social media campaign and calendar, while also expanding the team by hiring a social media manager. I focused on securing key accounts that established a solid foundation and network for future growth, all while facilitating weekly meetings to drive our success.
As a result, the company grew from selling 8,300 bags per year to a projected 200,000 bags in 2025—a remarkable increase of 234% in my first year of branding efforts. This experience not only solidified my skills but also demonstrated my ambition and capability as a force to reckon with in the animal health industry.
Currently, I am serving as the Chief Operating Officer of HCS, a family business in the construction services sector, while I actively focus on my career search in the animal health industry. My passion for animals remains strong, and I am excited to share that I am working on a personal project called "Boss Horse Women." In this endeavor, I am compiling a book of empowering and inspirational quotes and stories from remarkable women who have achieved success in both the boardroom and on horseback. I plan to host my first event in March 2027, aiming to give back to the community and inspire others. I look forward to growing this brand and exploring the collaborations it will bring.
As I continue my journey in sales, I remain passionate about connecting people with solutions that drive results. I am actively networking within the animal health industry, with the goal of securing a role by 2027 that aligns with my aspirations. I look forward to new opportunities to make a positive impact in the industry.
